Heritage Village is a living history museum located on 21 acres in the heart of Pinellas County. The natural pine and palmetto landscape is home to some of Pinellas County’s most historic buildings. More than 28 historic structures and features, some dating back to the 19th century, include a school, church, sponge warehouse, railroad depot and store as well as a variety of historic homes. Roc Day at Fiber Arts House at Heritage Village Saturday, Jan. 9 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join the spinners of Pinellas Weavers Guild to celebrate Roc Day as part of your new year's celebrations. Pathways Adventure series Saturday, January 23 11 a.m. in the Pinellas Room “Vegetable Gardening Fun” Discover the best way to tackle vegetable gardening in Pinellas County and how it can save money and get families planting together. Pinellas Folk Festival January 30 10-4 Listen to dozens of the Tampa Bay area's premier folk musicians perform traditional folk, gospel, country and bluegrass music on stages throughout the Village! Performers include Something Special, Keith Hope, Juniper, Cold Harbor, The Earthlings, Crystal Beach String, Mustang Sally and the Hamjos, Susan Boyer Haley, Frank Thomas, Florida Songstory, Bill Schustik, Still Friends, the Bullard Brothers, Sweetwater Sisters, Jim Carrick, and Carrie Blackwell Hussey. Storytellers and bluegrass and folk music jams will also engage visitors. Other activities include a Fleece to Shawl event, an embroidery show and a special tribute to Billy Hicks. Guided Walking Tours Wednesday-Saturday 10-3 Sunday 1-3 Heritage Village offers 55-minute guided walking tours that provide a brief history and overview of Heritage Village and its structures. The tours provide access to houses that might otherwise be closed to the public, and provide a personal experience through dialogue and conversation. The cost is $2.00 per person. Market in the Park Saturdays 9-1 Through April 17 Lovers of outdoors farmer’s markets will be delighted by the harvest of fresh, locally grown produce. Sponsored by the Pinellas County Historical Society, the market’s 25-plus vendors will offer everything natural from cheese, nuts and dried spices to herbal teas, coffee beans and bread. A variety of non-food items will be offered such as wood crafts, magnetic jewelry and organic T-shirts. Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the market season. Join these musicians, who come from all points north, every Friday afternoon from 1-3 p.m., January 8 – April 9, 2010 for some real country jamming! Bring your own lawn chair and musical instrument to play along or sing-along with this talented group who have been playing country tunes in the area for sixteen years!
